Dr Rick Llewellyn recognised as Fellow of Agronomy Australia
Agronomy Australia has awarded Dr Rick Llewellyn a Fellowship of the Australian Society of Agronomy, recognising more than three decades of outstanding contribution to Australian agronomy through research, development, extension and leadership.
Presented at the 2026 Agronomy Conference Gala Dinner in Darwin, the Fellowship celebrates Dr Llewellyn’s significant influence on Australian farming systems and the agronomy profession.
As a Senior Principal Research Scientist with CSIRO, Dr Llewellyn has brought together agronomy, agricultural economics and research into technology adoption to tackle some of the key challenges facing Australian agriculture. His work has contributed to advances in areas including herbicide resistance, integrated weed management, no-till, soil-specific management and mixed farming systems.
A particular achievement has been his leadership in developing ADOPT – the Adoption and Diffusion Outcome Prediction Tool, now widely used in Australia and internationally to understand innovation adoption and support practice change.
Dr Llewellyn has also made a significant contribution to Agronomy Australia, including presenting at conferences, serving on committees and chairing the strategic review that helped shape the Society’s future direction.
His Fellowship recognises not only his scientific achievements, but his ability to connect research with the realities of farming and turn knowledge into practical outcomes.
